DESCRIPTION:Important note: Applications close on Friday 31 October 2025 (23.59 UK time) \n\n\n\nAre you curious about how artificial intelligence algorithms are shaping what we see\, hear and believe online? \n\n\n\nAre you interested in connecting with peers and generate solutions to increase digital agency and address disinformation? \n\n\n\nJoin us on 11–12 November for a two-day training programme exploring media literacy in the age of AI. \n\n\n\nThe British Council and Edinburgh Futures Institute are pleased to invite you to participate in a two- day training programme to explore media literacy and generate solutions to address misinformation and disinformation. \n\n\n\nWe are inviting young people aged between 18 and 35 who are passionate about leading change to work together in interdisciplinary teams and create solutions on how disinformation can be addressed. Called “the best programme in Edinburgh to accelerate your business from idea to reality” by past participants\, it offers funding\, mentorship and essential skills to drive your startup’s success.  \n\n\n\nThis year\, the programme is sponsored by Edinburgh Futures Institute\, offering additional tailored support and expert guidance in key sectors of the institute.   \n\n\n\nWho can apply?\n\n\n\nThe programme is open to students\, recent graduates and staff of the University of Edinburgh building a startup.   \n\n\n\nEligibility: \n\n\n\n\nAt least one co-founder must be a University of Edinburgh student\, staff member or recent graduate (within two years). \n\n\n\nThe University-affiliated co-founder must attend all core sessions. \n\n\n\nFull engagement is required to receive funding. \n\n\n\n\nStaff spinouts are not eligible for this programme. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free online training event exploring the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence in the publishing industry. Looking at real-life case studies\, the session will delve into the latest research on the use and impact of AI on content creation and engagement. \n\n\n\nHear from Caroline Parkinson\, Director of Creative for the Edinburgh Futures Institute\, in conversation with Dr Bronwyn Jones – a scholar and practitioner who works as a journalist for the BBC and researches the role of artificial intelligence (AI)\, algorithms\, and automation in news production at the University of Edinburgh – and Burkhard Schafer\, Professor of Computational Legal Theory who researches the interactions between law\, science\, and computer technology from doctrinal\, comparative\, and legal-theoretical perspectives. \n\n\n\nThe event will take place on Zoom and include time for audience questions and discussion.
