Researchers have created a comic strip that explores how successful Scotland has been in pursuing its vision for lower inequality.
Supported by an EFI Research Award, Edinburgh academics Benjamin Bach and Catherine Magill used their skills in data visualisation to create the work.
The comic aims to help audiences understand data-driven policy and decision-making about inequality.
Collaboration
Working with Understanding Inequalities Project Organisers and graphic artist, Miranda Smith, the team used raw data to create We’ll Take the Low Road.
Data visualisation
The comic looks at a number of measures of inequality, including income, housing, educational attainment and exposure to crime.
It then analyses how these factors have impacted on life outcomes for people in Scotland, compared with England, in the 20 years since the 1998 Scotland Act, which set out a vision for lower inequality.
