We are delighted to share the publication of Edinburgh Futures Institute’s 2024/25 Annual Report.

The report includes highlights from the Futures Institute’s activities in the past year across four areas: Innovation, Research, Education and Convening.

The ‘Innovation’ section showcases some of our cross-sector partnerships and initiatives where new ideas and technologies are developed and used to support economic development and social good.

Highlights from our research portfolio that examine the complex relationship between digital technology and society are featured in the ‘Research’ section.

Achievements of our deeply interdisciplinary education portfolio, which works across undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education, are represented in the ‘Education’ section, featuring innovation and data-driven collaboration with a focus on complex global and social challenges.

Examples of our co-location and convening activities are cited in the fourth section, demonstrating how we’ve brought together a phenomenal range and number of people within the building to meet, talk and work together in new configurations.

The report also features an ‘Edinburgh Futures Institute in numbers’ section with key figures that illustrate the impact of our activities in the past year.

In her foreword, Edinburgh Futures Institute Director, Professor Marion Thain, said:

“The Futures Institute understands the challenges of today as human and social challenges as much as they are scientific and technical problems – and it is through commitment to this expansive, collaborative, vision that the teams we convene and support are at the leading edge of global thinking.”
