Digital cultural heritage interpretation had expanded over the last few years in an effort to attract diverse audiences and engage them more deeply. However, this remains challenging and raises a number of issues that the talk will address, such as the role of emotional engagement and digital storytelling when balancing facts and fiction, and the challenges of integrating co-creative participatory approaches in cultural heritage organisations.

This talk, presented by Professor Maria Economou, will draw from a range of related research (from the RSE Scottish Network for Evaluating Cultural Heritage Resources, H2020 EMOTIVE and POEM on Participatory Memory Practices, and AHRC/EPSRC Immersive Experiences Scottish Heritage Partnership.

Maria Economou is Professor of Digital Cultural Heritage, a joint post at the University of Glasgow shared between Information Studies, School of Humanities and the Hunterian Museum, where she leads the Digital Strategy
