Privacy Statement – Fusion Teaching

EFI Home / Privacy Statement – Fusion Teaching

Information about you: how we use it and with whom we share it

As part of courses delivered by the Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) we use live streaming and video recordings to enable online and on-campus students to study together (our ‘fusion’ teaching model). This privacy statement covers the EFI fusion teaching model only, for additional University of Edinburgh privacy notices please follow the continuation link at the end of this statement.

Personal data collected as a result of fusion learning includes your name and image as well as any contributions you make captured on video (visual and audible) or via the chat interface. Recordings and chat will, except in exceptional circumstances, only be accessible to students enrolled on your fusion course, invited individuals (e.g. guest speakers, external examiners) for the course and EFI teaching/support staff.

We are using information about you because we have a legitimate interest in providing recordings and live streams to students: on-site; online in real time; and online in alternate time. If you have any concerns with recordings and/or live sessions including the deletion of content, please contact your course organiser in the first instance.

The University uses an external company (Microsoft) to provide the Microsoft Teams platform to enable the recording and live stream fusion courses. The University remains responsible for your personal data and will ensure they are kept securely when they are held on one of these platforms. Please read Microsoft’s privacy statement for further information on the data that Microsoft collects from you and how they use this data.

The University will hold the personal data you provide within a recording or chat for up to eighteen months from the date of recording or chat entries. Your course organiser may, if there is no objection, transfer recordings to Media Hopper Create, the University’s media asset management service.

We do not use profiling or automated decision-making processes.

This privacy statement is continued: Continued privacy statement
