Alex Hutchison is Director of the Data for Children Collaborative – an initiative originally developed by UNICEF, the Scottish Government and the University of Edinburgh. Alex leads the delivery of their vision to improve outcomes for children globally through the responsible and innovative use of data and data science methodologies. Alex has led her team to; design a scalable and repeatable approach to building diverse collaborative teams from across sectors; develop a ‘Responsible Innovation’ framework to embed ethics, participation and safeguarding in practice; create a portfolio of challenge-led projects, partnering with UNICEF and other organisations working on the frontline of children’s services. Alex is the proud winner of the ‘Data for Good Champion’ at the DataIQ Awards 2021 and was delighted for the whole team winning the ‘Data for Society’ category at the DataIQ Awards 2022. Alex’s previous background lies in the financial sector.
