Brian Fleming is an independent consultant who has worked in the asset management industry for over 20 years. His experience in innovation and risk management aligns with many aspects of the Futures Institute’s challenge-led, innovation ecosystem.
Throughout his career in asset management Brian has maintained a keen interest in academic research relating to finance, data science, modelling, and optimisation. He has primary worked as a quantitative product and risk expert, and his experience covers portfolio management in absolute return funds, liability-driven investing (LDI), asset-liability matching (ALM), multi-asset risk, derivatives, portfolio construction, balance sheet management, and systematic strategies.
He is passionate about all kinds of innovation and aims to support impactful projects, either through direct involvement, or by connecting and promoting people and projects around the world.

Background
Brian has an undergraduate degree in mathematics and a PhD in physics. His career in asset management offered him broad experience across insurance, pensions, and wealth management. Most recently he has been brushing up on his Python skills and AI knowledge. Brian is an independent consultant and holds Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Professional Risk Manager (PRM) designations.
