Kyle Morrison works as a Design Technician at the University of Edinburgh. His role involves combining creativity with technical skills to design products and services that are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and user-friendly. Currently based at Innovation Services (a data-driven, design-led innovation hub at the Edinburgh Futures Institute), Kyle is working to transform aspects of the Edinburgh Futures Institute’s experience and culture, making their co-creation services more agile, innovative, and accessible.

Kyle primarily works in the digital design field. His work spans the various facets of digital design, including visual communication, user experience, and graphics. He regularly collaborates with academic teams and researchers to translate intricate research findings into engaging, accessible outputs, enabling broader engagement with academic and non-academic audiences. Previously, he has worked as a designer on two multimillion-pound research programmes exploring how to support healthy ageing in the workplace and promote productive later-life employment.

Besides being an avid digital designer, Kyle has a profound interest in physical making, especially in prototyping and testing how products will function in real-world scenarios. He is highly skilled in many digital fabrication techniques, including 3D printing and laser cutting, and his work has been instrumental in bridging the gap between theoretical research and practical, real-world application.
