The Market Mind Foundation (MMF) is a bespoke educational charity to promote cognitive economics in general and the Market Mind Hypothesis (MMH) in particular. In short, informed by cognitive science the MMH formalises what investors have always casually referred to as “the market mind”. The MMH was established with support from Edinburgh Innovations as well as Community Enterprises in Scotland (CEIS). Late 2024 it was approved and awarded charitable status by OSCR, the Scottish regulator. It is governed by an independent board of distinguished trustees.
The MMF aims to establish new economic enlightenment—both in theory and practice—by revamping the flawed mechanical paradigm of contemporary economics through the MMH. To achieve this the MMF will primarily act as the corporate, legal, and funding vehicle for the Market Mind Centre (MMC), its educational conduit which is the operational resident of the Financial Services ward of the Edinburgh Futures Institute. The MMC undertakes the following four core activities (all focused on the MMH): research projects, events, courses, and academic consulting (including investment management innovation).
Crucially, the MMF will eventually embody a significant endowment to enable the MMC to become fully self-funded for its core activities and thus remain independent.
“The MMF raises the Futures Institute’s ‘challenge-led’ ethos to the next level because future generations face a serious economic predicament. The MMH has ‘radical’ implications— beyond just addressing symptoms—which is very disruptive and will thus be resisted. Still, a thousand-mile journey starts with the first steps which we can take together.”
