Overview

Do you work or are interested in designing for children? Join researchers & educators for coffee, lunch, talks and networking at EFI!

Do you work in industry, education (formal and informal), policy, or research related to understanding how children interact and how we can design to create valuable new experiences? If so, Edinburgh Futures Institute’s Children, Interaction, and Design Cluster invite you to a face-to-face networking event at the beautiful Edinburgh Futures Institute. We warmly welcome you with coffee and lunch and an opportunity to share, discuss and learn with others interested in how design influences the way diverse children of all ages interact, think, feel, communicate and learn, including implications for emerging technologies such as Augmented Reality, Haptics, Tangibles or AI.

Through a combination of short talks, group discussions and showcasing work, we hope to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Knowledge of cutting-edge theory and practice for designing with, and for, children
  • Opportunities to meet and share work with others from across Scotland
  • Be aware of opportunities by joining Edinburgh Futures Institute’s Children, Interaction, and Design cluster, from events to funding, and much in between.

Please be mindful that places are limited when booking and notify us at your earliest convenience if you’re not able to attend; this will enable others to attend in your place. For any questions, please contact event organisers Andrew Manches a.manches@ed.ac.uk, Uta Hinrichs uhinrich@ed.ac.uk or Susan Lechelt susan.lechelt@ed.ac.uk.

Please note: Academic tickets are sold out (non-academic tickets remain), however we strongly recommend that you join the waitlist as tickets may become available.
