We are delighted to share the publication of Edinburgh Futures Institute’s 2025/26 Annual Report.

The report celebrates achievements of the past year across four areas: Innovation, Research, Education and Convening.

It also includes an ‘Our year in numbers’ section with key figures that illustrate the impact of activities in the past year.

The ‘Innovation’ section includes highlights in bringing expertise together to unlock value in data and innovation, showcasing collaborations with Edinburgh Futures Institute’s ecosystem of entrepreneurs, partners and public bodies.

We highlight the recent successes of the research centres convened in the building in the ‘Research’ section, citing funding awards, groundbreaking research output and the new research teams we welcomed into our thriving ecosystem in the past year.

The ‘Education’ section celebrates the interdisciplinary education portfolio that reflects collaboration between academics from across the university, including celebrating initiatives like Students as Change Agents, live projects that have enabled our students to work with industry partners, and the launch of our EFI House project.

The last section on ‘Convening’ showcases how we have brought together and catalysed cross-sector conversations and collaborations, including our Future University programme, exhibitions and community events such as Doors Open Day and the Meadows Festival.

In her foreword, Edinburgh Futures Institute Director, Professor Marion Thain, said:

Edinburgh Futures Institute is a catalyst that supercharges the potential for collaboration between external partners and academic expertise by forging a deep understanding of the needs of industry and society and an expertly intentional shaping of opportunities…”

“…I’m extremely grateful to all team members who work within the Futures Institute and to all of our partners across the university, the city, the region, the nation and the globe. We are still at an early stage of this incredible journey so stay tuned to see what more we can achieve through this unique collaboration.”
