The different global crises that the world is facing are interconnected, and many are determined by the way that we have used the earth’s resources, and prioritised development and growth.
‘Planetary Health’ examines these factors and their consequences, and looks at ways in which redesigning, connecting and leveraging the interdependent health, environment and economic systems could offer new global solutions.
This interdisciplinary MSc programme has been developed with expertise from the fields of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, Arts, Humanities and Social Science and Science and Engineering. It will appeal to a range of students – including recent graduates and career professionals in sectors impacted by global shifts such as food and agriculture, energy, education, housing, urban planning, development, banking and finance, and business.
You will develop the critical and data skills to understand and design solutions for global crises. In particular, crises at the intersection of the future health and wellbeing of people and our planet. And be supported to build or develop a career focused on tackling climate collapse, health, and other inequalities.

This programme is available full-time over one year, or part-time over two or three years. You can register for a full MSc, a Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate.
Our teaching model allows choice as to how you study – with options to study online or on-campus at the level of each individual course. Please note, we may not always be able to guarantee your first choice of study mode for every course you take. International students coming to Edinburgh on a study visa, are required to take all their courses on-campus due to immigration restrictions.
