Applications to all funds (excluding the CDCS Digital Research Fund) will be considered on a monthly basis, usually in the first week of the month.
CDCS Digital Research Fund
This fund supports CAHSS researchers in exploring or enhancing the use of data-driven and computational methods in their work. It is for one-off purchases and discrete costs such as data-sets, equipment, software licences or a short period of research assistance.
Please note the Edinburgh Futures Institute funds below are on hold until March 2025.
Small Projects and Events Fund
The Small Projects and Events Fund supports small pilot projects, networking activities, and events, where there is a plan for further development (e.g. research proposals, further collaboration, education programmes).
Proposal Development Fund
The Proposal Development Fund covers salary buy-out for applicants working on research proposals, salary buy-in to employ a short-term researcher to help with the proposal’s development, or other proposal-specific costs such as graphic designers and facilitators.
Research Dissemination Fund
The fund aims to support researchers affiliated with EFI, at any stage of their career, with dissemination activities. This includes organising events such as book launches, presenting at national or international conferences, or attending meetings organised by key stakeholders and partners to discuss the outcome of research projects.
Student Research Projects
These awards aim to support our student community working on ambitious and multidisciplinary projects that can contribute to knowledge and capacity building in Data Driven Innovation across the City of Edinburgh and beyond.
Calls will be advertised here when open.
“The funding made it possible to reach a broad audience of industry experts, as well as lay-members including post graduate students covering law, informatics and researchers”
Emilios Avgouleas (Chair in Banking Law, School of Law)
