With over 5 million households in the UK living in flats and apartments the available options to decarbonise homes is highly limited. A new heating technology Heat Wayv developed by UK company ‘Wayv Tech’ may provide a game change solution not only for flats but also for all homes and non-domestic buildings. CFI undertook a study to review the infrastructure and skills for integration into the UK building stock and found the system had over 20 advantages over other heating technologies. Rapid installation time and ease of incorporation into existing housing infrastructure were strong underpinning advantages including the opportunities to draw down low tariff night time electricity supply for re-use during the day peak periods of use.
