CFI research assists Perth West £118 Million investment plans

The Centre for Future Infrastructure (CFI) undertook research on behalf of Lamberkin Trust to investigate the potential role of Perth West development to support future low carbon transport via a key hub site.

Perth West development site was awarded full planning permission in October 2023 triggering £118 Million investment and will support over 1,200 temporary jobs and over 1,000 permanent jobs. The Centre for Future Infrastructure (CFI) undertook research on behalf of the land owner Lamberkin Trust to investigate the potential role of Perth West development to support future low carbon transport via a key hub site. The study found Perth West could play a strategic role in the acceleration of lower emission transport for Scotland and the UK. The site is the major junction for mortorways and “A” class roads opening up opportunities for rapid recharging for EV cars, light vans for intercity movement of goods and hydrogen for long range haulage. The junction is also the gateway to the north and north east for tourism to Highlands, 11 of Scotland’s local authorities, underpinning £22 Billion of annual goods traffic on the A9 including supporting 80% of Scotland’s whisky distilleries transport.
